And another little quote I came across was this: "... we don't regulate the lawful behavior of our fans or prohibit free speech and expression of our guests," Gray told FOXNews.com. "We can't tell people what to wear. Where do you start? Where does it end, as far as individual expression?"
Curtis Gray runs Homestead Speedway. And you notice he says they don’t regulate the lawful behavior of the fans. If that’s the case, then why was Rick the Sign Man’s signs confiscated at Charlotte a few years back? And it wasn’t even inside the track. It was at the Speed TV stage area. Uh-huh. Granted, this was from an article about the Confederate flag at Homestead and the NAACP, but I wonder how many ticket buying fans would make it inside the track wearing T-shirts which said His Royal Highness sucks? How many fans would make it in with a picture of HRH with the red prohibited circle on it going over his face? What happened when Tony Stewart freely expressed himself about NA$CAR being like the WWE? What happened to Bob Dilner after he turned up the RCR rim deal? Freedom of expression my rosy red rectum!
If there was really freedom of expression regarding NA$CAR, we’d be hearing more about what actually is going on in the garage area and the tricks teams are using to beat the system. We’d be hearing about who all has violated the drug abuse policy and not just them picking out a scapegoat. The media folks would actually be able to do investigative journalism and actually give their two cents ($1.298 adjusted for inflation) worth instead of putting out what is dictated to them from the Ivory Towers. Instead, there are a few brave folks who do express themselves freely and aren’t the sheep with rose colored glasses so blindly following every word put out in the propaganda sheets from Daytona. Folks who do question things. Folks trying to keep things honest. But then if everyone questioned what was going on and doing some decent work and investigative journalism, I might have to find a new hobby. I guess I should be grateful not to be a sheep in journalist’s clothing.
I had to laugh at some comments one of the lamestream media types wrote in response to an e-mail saying how NA$CAR puts up with a lot of bomb throwers. Right now, the Kool Aid drinkers out-number the bomb throwers, if you can really call them that. And I really wouldn’t call them that. Hellions, maybe, but bomb throwers? That’s going to the extreme. If that lamestream writer really wants to see bomb throwers, then might I suggest covering politics instead of NA$CAR. That’s where you find the real bomb throwers. Considering my military occupation, I guess I could qualify as a bomb thrower. I wonder if the last thing that card carrying media member heard before the lobotomy was “Now just drink the Kool Aid and close your eyes. This won’t hurt a bit”?
Back to the political contributions I was checking out. It seems that another politician is receiving “nice” donations from the Royal Family of Daytona and their minions. Florida Governor Charlie Crist has received $19,000 so far from the France family in his run for a higher office. Another $2400 from Mafia Mike. His Imperial (Im)Potent-ate laid out $23,900 in political contributions which could be Federally tracked last year. Of course, you have to figure that some folks who work as part of the Royal Court as jesters would also make donations. Official Ministry of Propaganda Organ Grinder Monkey Ramses Posthole donated $4,000 to President Obama’s campaign. Lord only knows how much soft money got donated and to whom since that’s hard to track. Here’s a list of who all in the Ivory Towers has contributed that was Federally tracked LINK
And in another episode of “How the Royal Family of NA$CAR Turns“, we see how they deal with child custody. Surveillance, attempted bribes, violating court orders? And this had nothing to do with racing. If they go to these extremes over child custody, imagine what they’re doing to Mayfield. Maybe if Nixon had their influence and clout he might’ve gotten away with Watergate.
Something to discuss amongst yourselves. Do you think an orange jumpsuit would make Faux King Brian’s butt look big? I’m not doing a survey, just throwing this out there for discussion among us race fans.
Here is a little something of a long read. It’s Dr Black’s testimony before a Congressional oversight committee regarding drug and steroid abuse in sports and sports entertainment. Take a close look at the date when he became involved with NA$CAR and their program, if it could be called a program back then. Just before Tim Richmond got screwed by NA$CAR. Also, notice the info on WWE wrestler Chris Benoit. Nothing about him being “clean” on his test the April before he went crazy and killed his family and himself. Nothing about several other WWE wrestlers or former wrestler who also died within a year of Benoit from drugs. Nothing about him picking out scapegoats for the NFL program. Some very interesting omissions. If you changed a few names, it would be eerily similar to the Mayfield case LINK.
And in an interesting twist, Dr Black’s wife, who is a state senator in Tennessee, is proposing that folks on welfare would be requited to undergo urinalysis testing. And the lab being proposed for the contract? None other than the labs owned by her husband. Aegis Labs LINK.
A little conflict of interest there senator? Like Faux King Brian’s marketing company with Badyear, STP, Dodge, Kingsford, Smoke, Armor All, and several other sponsors as customers. If it’s good enough for HRH, it must be good enough for the good doctor and his wife.
I was looking back over one of the court documents in the Mayfield case (LINK) and I had to wonder. How in the heck do you tell if a sample is dilute? Smell? Color? “Mr. Mayfield’s urine sample provided on July 6, 2009 was ‘very dilute,’ which likely indicates an excessive consumption of water ‘in an effort to defeat a drug test‘.” Let’s look at the weather and temperatures on that day. Were they hot enough for Mayfield to be drinking plenty of water or more water than usual to stay hydrated? Doctors recommend people drink at least 8 glasses of water a day. I myself tend to drink more fluids when the weather gets hotter to stay hydrated. So it would make sense that Mayfield drank water to stay hydrated and to ensure he had plenty of water in his system to produce urine for the official sample collection with Official Willy Watcher NA$CAR Security Guard B. Zachary there to watch. Plus how many “pit stops” did Mayfield have to make before the official collection? I know just from my morning coffee intake I have to go a couple times before noon. Then there was another sample collection at an independent lab afterwards. Funny, they didn’t say anything about his sample being dilute. So how could one sample taken before be dilute and the one afterwards not be?
One thing that struck me as odd while I was
eating my cereal and having my morning coffee
after checking my blood sugar is the phrase the
Booth Buffoons use. “He won Happy hour”.
Jabber Jaws parrot is probably the one who uses
it the most. But think about it. Happy Hour is not
a race. They don’t line up side by side for the
drop of the green flag. They come and go as the
please to make runs then to the garage to make
adjustments then back out again to see if the
adjustments worked and then continue on until
time runs out. There’s no checkered flag at the
end of Happy Hour, no presentation ceremony in
Victory Lane, no caught in the headlights looking
Sprint girls, no victory celebration with the owner and crew, no media swarming Victory Lane. That statement makes about as much sense as His Royal Highness saying that the Kit Car will make racing more exciting and save the teams money by eliminating specialized race cars.
And now for something completely different. For those who haven’t voted yet for the HOF induction, consider Curtis Turner as an inductee. Here’s a few stats on my hometown hero. Curtis won NASCAR sanctioned races in his career were 55, which included the 17 Grand National races (now called the Cup Series-me), and the Convertible Division of which he won 38, 22 of which were won in 1 year. Curtis Turner won over 350 stock car races in his lifetime, racing in other events, or events sanctioned by USAC /MARK/ARCA. (Curtis was the NASCAR official at the only NASCAR race held at the Floyd County Speedway-me) He was also the first NASCAR driver to appear on the cover of a national magazine, Sports Illustrated in 1968, where we was named the 'Babe Ruth of Stockcar Racing'. Curtis and Fireball Roberts were the only 2 drivers ever to be paid “show money”. During the 4 year ban imposed by Bill France against Curtis for trying to form a Union, he continued to race in other racing organizations such as MARK, ARCA and USAC, continuing an impressive list of accomplishments such as his win at Pike's Peak and the breaking of a record there. Curtis Turner was President of, and built the Charlotte Motor Speedway, now called Lowes Speedway in Charlotte, NC. With some tricks up his sleeve, he fought every resistance he could muster to insure his beloved track would be built and finished-even at legal gunpoint. However, because of his perseverance, the 1 st Charlotte 600, which was scheduled to run originally May 29, 1960, did have its inaugural race which he promoted, June 19th, 1960. When ticket sales began to decline in the 60's, Bill France invited Curtis back to drive a race car again in NASCAR, this time being paid as an entertainer on the track with his daredevil driving that the fans went crazy for. It worked for NASCAR as their sales soared when Curtis Turner was at the wheel. My thanks to Margaret Sue, Curtis’ daughter, for the info.
Curtis definitely deserves to be in the HOF long before Bill France Jr. and in my mind, before Bill France Sr. Curtis was a successful businessman in the timber industry before Bill France Sr. thought about NASCAR. And Curtis was also running a little bit of shine now and again from down off the Buffalo, a local landmark here where shine is still being brewed to this day. Plus he did a fair amount of racing before NASCAR was even created. So if there is justice in the racing world and the votes haven’t been predetermined like the fan votes for other things are, then Curtis deserves to be in the HOF ahead of both Bill France Sr. and Jr. After all, the HOF is supposed to be honoring racers and people in the racing business, not promoters. And Curtis’ racing record is much better than Bill Sr. and Jr.
I want to give some recognition to Project Compassion. This is a group of artists who are painting portraits of our fallen military heroes from Iraq and Afghanistan and sending them to the families of these heroes. They do it at no cost t the families. The artists have been selling off some of their other paintings to keep Project Compassion funded. However, because of the economy, they’re having a tough time keeping the project going. So if you folks can help them out, by all means please do. You don’t have to buy a painting to help them out. A donation that you can afford is fine. You can find out how to help this very worthy project by going to www.heropaintings.com or www.thegoatwoman.com . What they are doing is a very worthwhile effort and you know I’m a big one for the troops and the folks who help out the troops and their families. It touched me to the point of tears and for a guy like me, that’s not an easy task.
