UPDATE FROM GINO 2004, Allentown Pa.: ok heres the update on the glenn, after sending out a please forgive the way our raceway was letter after last years muddy "mess", watkins glenn decided to thumb thier noses at us all and suckered us ALL into re-upping our tickets again for this last race...promises of new "showers" were not kept! still got the 3 dolla shower trailer.. the stone
roads they also said were gonna happen never materialized...
from what I saw, I dont think they dropped 1 shovel full anywhere on the track property! not long after arriving on thursday and setting up ...did it start to let the heavens rain down for many hours this weekend!....the muddy mess is always fun if you enjoy all your stuff coated in muck! the pedestrian tunnel under turn 11 was deplorable...it had a stream running through it and was 10 inches of mud on both ends..straight up the middle of the stream is the way to go through it!..saw a lady lose her shoe and couldnt find it!! and she left without her shoe!! from the very least the folks that run this track could have had stone thrown down after the torrential rains arrived!! simple
is too easy!! all the merch trailers were a mud pit to visit...there was not 1 area that wasnt mud anywhere near those trailers!! when going to the glenn...the weather is always a factor at this place....always bring cover to go into with your stuff! cover everything! tents, tables, grills. ifin it
aint bein' used, cover it up!! a weed wacker is a nice accessory to bring along since I think the weed control billy-goat has perished at this track! they have a dump station just outside the inside tunnel by the bathrooms. they have water everywhere....bring any leveling stuff you got cause this
place is so far from a level campsite it aint even funny! bring something to sit on if your stand bound'...bleachers are not a cusion by no means! most turns have the big trailer tv's to watch

Quality of the fans: 75% we met some real "winners" at this 1
Quality of the track: 30% and I'm being nice at that!
Ill take a great race over the rest anyday!!

Goin' infield?? wear GOOD walking shoes.....they have bus shuttles that run all weekend ...never seem to run to where you really wanna go to....they go right up till race time......staging starts on wed. morning..........water is available inside the track for motor homes.....this track is at the top of a mountain...so I grab my water inside when I arrive..too much weight to lug up the mountain.....all merchandise trailers are accessible to all inside the raceway...they have a bathhouse trailer that charges 3 bucks for shower...with hot pumping water for as long as you like! nice clean modern bathrooms everywhere........the camping area is heavily patrolled by the troopers and local police...NO golf carts anymore...quite time there is enforced with a heavy hand....lights out at 11 pm every night you are there....they allow camping until Monday morning around 11 am....the raceway is different in every corner you go to is a totally different track and is driven different by every driver...it’s a great nighttime party place! some of NASCAR’s wildest parties go on there........

As far as Pop Odoms, by looking at speedway maps I think there would be some on Meads Hill Road. Also, across from speedway on County Rte. 16.
FROM RICH: I have seen them in the past on County Rte.16, Meads Hill Rd, and Wedgewood
Rd. They don't really advertise though, just have a sign on the road that says"camp here cheap"! They come and go with each year. I do know there is one just outside of gate 2 on Rte 16 where there used to be a small store there. And I mean it's right there next to Gate 2! Just heard from a friend that knows him and said he was getting it ready.

STAGING FOR INFIELD: For the SIRIUS Satellite Radio at The Glen weekend, the following gates will open at 6am on Wednesday, August 10, 2005:

In order to ensure the safety and ease of viewing for all our guests, please review the
following regulations:
• Structures that block the view of any other spectators are not permitted.
• Scaffolding is limited to one section and a maximum of 6’ from from the ground.
• Elevated structures attached to vehicles may not exceed the height of the passenger compartment of the vehicle.
• Scaffolding is not permitted on the viewing berm at any time.
• Dining canopies are permitted if they do not block the view of others.
• Scaffolding is not permitted in the TailGate Zone areas.
• Canopies/tents are not permitted during on-track activity in the TailGate Zone areas.
I suggest going and reading their fan guide....there are many restrictions on what can go in and go on in the infield.

SHOWER FACILITIESShowers will be available for the NASCAR NEXTEL Cup Series and Watkins
Glen Grand Prix with locations on the infield between Reserved Camping sections A and B, and near the Gate 1 restrooms. Showers are also available for the Finger Lakes Wine Festival and Zippo U.S. Vintage Grand Prix weekends at the Gate 1 location. Showers for all events are $3.00 per shower.
