Most Popular NASCAR Drivers in 2026

NASCAR has rarely fielded a more layered driver pool. Veterans still chasing first championships, rookies handed top-tier rides, road-course imports, dirt-track champions, multi-generation racing families — they're all here in 2026. Here are the names defining the season so far.

The Championship Frontrunners

Tyler Reddick — No. 45, 23XI Racing, Toyota. The two-time Xfinity Series champion (2018, 2019) has rewritten the record book with five wins through nine starts in 2026, including the Daytona 500. He's the first driver ever to take the opening three races of a Cup season and leads the standings by 110 points. Fans love the smoothness; rivals respect the closing speed.

Denny Hamlin — No. 11, Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota. The three-time Daytona 500 winner and 23XI Racing co-owner stacked his 61st career Cup win at Las Vegas in March, leading 134 laps for back-to-back spring sweeps. He's second in points and still chasing the first championship of a Hall-of-Fame résumé.

Ryan Blaney — No. 12, Team Penske, Ford. The 2023 Cup champion is third in points after his Phoenix win and remains Ford's most consistent title threat. Personable, fast, and a generational talent on intermediates.

Chase Elliott — No. 9, Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet. The 2020 Cup champion and son of Hall-of-Famer Bill Elliott captured his 22nd career win at Martinsville on March 29 and sits fourth in points. Six-time Most Popular Driver winner for a reason.

Hendrick's Big Three

Kyle Larson — No. 5, Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet. The 2021 Cup champion is widely regarded as the most versatile driver in motorsports — multiple Knoxville Nationals winner, dirt sprint car titles, and another Indy 500/Coca-Cola 600 double on the calendar for May 2026. Sixth in points after a runner-up at Kansas.

William Byron — No. 24, Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet. Back-to-back Daytona 500 winner (2024, 2025) and 2024 regular-season champion. He's hovering inside the top 11 in points after a rough Talladega and is searching for the consistency his Hendrick teammates have found.

Alex Bowman — No. 48, Hendrick Motorsports, Chevrolet. Steady veteran whose strong qualifying speed regularly puts him near the front; running for a playoff lock on points.

Joe Gibbs Racing's Toyota Block

Christopher Bell — No. 20, Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota. Two-time Championship 4 finalist (2022, 2023) paired with crew chief Adam Stevens. Slow start in 2026 but a regular top-five threat at every intermediate.

Ty Gibbs — No. 54, Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota. The 2022 Xfinity champion and grandson of team owner Joe Gibbs broke through with his first career Cup win at Bristol on April 12, holding off Blaney and Larson. Fifth in points and finally validating heavy expectations.

Chase Briscoe — No. 19, Joe Gibbs Racing, Toyota. The 2024 Southern 500 winner is in his second year of a Toyota seat after taking over the No. 19 from Martin Truex Jr. for 2025. Still adjusting, but the pace shows up in flashes.

Penske, RFK and the Ford Camp

Joey Logano — No. 22, Team Penske, Ford. Three-time Cup champion (2018, 2022, 2024) and 2015 Daytona 500 winner. Quiet on the win list through April but always lethal once the playoff format flips in September.

Austin Cindric — No. 2, Team Penske, Ford. The 2022 Daytona 500 winner as a rookie and 2020 Xfinity champion. Working on consistency at intermediates; chasing a points lock.

Brad Keselowski — No. 6, RFK Racing, Ford. The 2012 Cup champion is recovering from a broken leg suffered skiing in the offseason and is still chasing his first win since spring 2024 Darlington. Co-owns the team he drives for.

Trackhouse, 23XI and the Younger Wave

Bubba Wallace — No. 23, 23XI Racing, Toyota. The first full-time Black Cup driver since Wendell Scott has three career Cup wins, including the 2025 Brickyard 400. Solid early form keeping him in playoff territory.

Ross Chastain — No. 1, Trackhouse Racing, Chevrolet. Famous for the 'Hail Melon' wall ride at Martinsville in 2022 and a list of Cup wins. Still aggressive, still loud, still in the middle of every race.

Shane van Gisbergen — No. 88, Trackhouse Racing, Chevrolet. Three-time Supercars champion who won his Cup debut at the 2023 Chicago Street Race. Easily the field's most dangerous road-course racer; oval results still uneven.

Connor Zilisch — No. 87, Trackhouse Racing, Chevrolet. The 19-year-old 2025 Xfinity Rookie of the Year set a record with 8 poles last year and became the youngest Daytona 500 starter since Joey Logano in 2009. One top-15 finish through seven Cup starts; the upside is enormous.

Carson Hocevar — No. 77, Spire Motorsports, Chevrolet. The 2024 Rookie of the Year claimed his first Cup win at Talladega on April 26 in his second full season. Eighth in points. Aggressive, viral, and now a winner.

Daniel Suárez — No. 7, Spire Motorsports, Chevrolet. The 2016 Xfinity champion and first Mexican-born Cup race winner (Sonoma 2022, Atlanta 2024) brings Freeway Insurance to Spire and helps anchor the team's growing three-car effort.
